Pasta

I love baking. I like cooking too, but I am not as excited about that part of being in the kitchen. I blame it on my severe sweet tooth:) Robby usually holds the reins when it comes to meal planning and prepping anyway, and I love being Robby's sous chef. I can stir a risotto like nobody's business or grate the perfect amount of cheese a recipe calls for, but everything he makes is so yummy... why mess with a great thing? Don't get me wrong, I have a few things I can create (mainly Italian dishes), but I can't compete with the recipe book he carries in his head.

The other night I wanted to try something really different, so I opened up the Semolina flour and made my first attempt at homemade pasta. When we were in Italy over the summer I asked Grandma if she ever made her own pasta. Her response was, "What a waste of time. Why would I do that?" I told you she was hilarious. So, ya it makes sense, but I still wanted to waste a little time of my own and try it out.

It was good - not great. I couldn't roll it out flat enough without tearing the dough. I got it as thin as I could and it was still too thick. Also, I used eggs. Mom suggested next time I should try it without because the eggs can really give it that heavy taste. I am off to find another recipe - eggless this time.
