I'm pretty sure this is it...

Around 7 tonight after dinner I felt a few sharp pains and thought, hmmm, these feel different from my usual Braxton Hicks contractions... maybe it was something from dinner not settling quite right (the jalapeno cheese sausage??). We got home and they kept coming. They weren't regular, but they definitely had a beginning and end. I didn't say anything to Robby or mom because I wanted them to sleep and not get too excited, in case they died down. I did a few last minute things that I wanted to get done (dishes and laundry) and then tried to lay down. I do think I fell asleep between them, but now they are a little too uncomfortable and regular to lay down through. I am sitting in the living room and brought the rocking chair from the nursery out to lounge in. My labor buddies Haribo and Maple are laying next to me trying to catch some zzz's. The contractions are between 7-9 minutes apart and are concentrated just to my lower belly (nothing in the back!). I am trying to close my eyes between them because I know it's going to be a long day.
I can't wait for Robby to wake up!!

Oh how naive I was... I just re-read this post today (3/30/11)

A Little Plum Tree For A Little Boy

While we are 'patiently' waiting for our sweet little baby to join our family Robby decided to take out a Gulf Ruby Plum tree that didn't make it and replace it with a Santa Rosa Plum. Okay, I think we have all officially nested!

Baby Watch 2011 - 40 weeks

We met with the Dr yesterday for our 40 week appt. She told us that it looks like this baby will in fact come out of my body at some point, so that's good news.

Baby boy is still wedged head down (yeah!) and posterior (double yeah!). His heart rate is still nice and strong and my blood pressure is still looking good. Assuming baby doesn't feel the need to come out and meet his momma & daddy before, we will meet with the Dr again in one week (3/1). She will do a growth ultrasound and assuming it goes as she is expecting we will set a time to induce the following day (3/2).

I hope he comes out on his own before he is forced. I know in the end it doesn't matter how he enters the world, but I really want him to take the times he needs.
I am trying my best to just relax, so he knows we are ready for him on the outside. We'll see you so soon, little.

Love Day

Hope everyone had a Happy V-day yesterday!

We had an awesome day that consisted of me getting some of this from my love...

Our fridge is now overloaded with root beer, so if you need a float and you are in the area you know where to go :) I promise I will serve you this good stuff (unless you like the taste of liquid licorice, then you can share a bottle of Virgil's with Robby).

We also enjoyed our usual favorite, Barry's Pizza (where we saw lovebirds, Sara and Randy) and enjoyed the new Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston movie, Just Go With It. The storyline was typical of their usual characters, but we both thought it was pretty funny. I love Adam Sandler's humor.

After dinner we headed to the airport to pick up my momma. She is finally here!

Update: This root beer is a winner, but Robby still likes the other one...

Virgil's Root Beer - Review

Yesterday we were in the big city and decided to stop at one of our favorite places, Central Market. When you have a foodie husband like me you come to know this place well. It's definitely not practical, at least for our shopping style, but you can find ANY type of specialty item you would want and it's fun to browse. (I tried to buy trash bags there once and after searching for awhile I found one tiny row with minimal selection tucked back in the back with all of your household goods.) While we were there, I decided to check out their root beer selection. I am not much of a 'coke' drinker, but lately I've had root beer on the brain. After checking out all the different brands we decided to go with Virgil's.

I tried it out once we got home and had time to chill. It tastes like black licorice flavored water. No carbonation or that yummy burn from a good root beer, but Robby tried it and loved it! He didn't taste the black licorice that I was getting.

After talking to my brother last night about it (I called him after we left Central Market bragging about the delicious root beer float I was going to make after dinner - fail), he told me I should do a blog review.

The only person I know that likes the taste of black licorice is my Ma... since she is coming in town tonight!!!!! maybe she and Robby can catch up over a bottle :)

Baby's first outfit

It's here! Grandma M sent over a little shirt and sweater set when she knew the family was going to host a shower for us in DC. I got to thinking and decided I would like to bring baby home in her outfit. The only problem was I didn't have any pants. I talked to my Aunt GiGi about my dilemma and she could totally relate! She had the same problem with my cousin Michelle :) She talked to my grandma, and my grandma told me not to worry about it. Today I received two pairs of pants, 2 booties (knit by grandma), and a bib. The cream and white combo are so soft and delicate. I love it all and can't wait to wrap up our little boy.

Both sets of booties Grandma made

Backbone (I need one)

Last night we stopped by a car dealership to continue the dreaded new car search. We have been by this particular dealership and had a frustrating experience, so we parked and immediately darted to the cars up front. We searched for the one Robby found online and came up short. Last time they had more in the back, so we wanted to try there, but didn't want to get 'stopped'. We decided to go for it and just as we were making our way someone stops us. Boo. Oh, well. I guess it is their job, but we knew we would only be wasting their time.

This guy approached us with a full cigarette, which I could smell before he even made his way to us. I didn't know it was coming from him at first until he asked if he could continue smoking as we walked to the back. Robby and I both said yes. Why did I do that? It was STRONG and he still had the whole thing left. I HATE the smell of cigarettes and knowing that all effects go straight to my son made it 10X worse. Why couldn't I have said, "Actually, would you mind putting it out?" I don't think it would have been rude, especially since he later said something about me being pregnant.

Anyways, long story short, they didn't have any other cars in the back so we left, but the whole night I was thinking about how silly it was that I couldn't have said what I wanted to. Sometimes I just need to put on my big girl panties.

38 weeks

I have so much on my mind, but at the same time I don't really feel like I have much to say. It's pretty surreal to know that our child could come into this world any day now. Some random things I have been thinking about include...

I still feel like baby's due date is months away and I am jumping the gun big time washing all of his clothes, bedding, etc. Then I remind myself that it is safe for him to come anytime, like NOW...

I can't wait to meet our son and find out what he looks like, but at the same time I am feeling very content. I am enjoying every second of our final days/weeks as a family of two.

I feel ready (mentally). As ready as you can feel I guess, without knowing what to expect.

I still feel abnormally good (physically). I don't really sleep well during the night, but make up for it with naps. I have underestimated the power of a nap my whole life. They are a beautiful thing.

I am excited about my mom getting here in LESS than 1 week. Once she is here baby can come :)

I am thinking about making the blog private. It would be easy for family/friends to access, not exactly sure how it works yet, but keep people we don't know from seeing the 10 million pictures I will be posting of our son. I guess I will look into this and create a post on what I decide.

I have been training someone to take over my job during maternity leave for the past few weeks. I have proved to myself that I would be a pretty terrible teacher and am realizing how much I enjoy what I do.

Oh, and I LOVE sandwiches.

Future Tiger?

I'm not talking about my son. I'm talking about this cute little pup!
