New Eyeballs

Well, not really new, just upgraded... well, not yet, but soon.
I had a LASIK type procedure done called ASA (Advanced Surface Ablasion). My vision was terrible......-6.5 and -7.5. I know, I was blind. After LOTS of research and consultations, I decided to take the plunge. Thursday was my pre-op appointment where they gave me my post-op instructions and did the final eye exam. We got there Friday morning at 9:30 for the actual surgery.

On the way to my procedure... Last time in glasses for a LONG time??

I was VERY nervous. They did a few more scans and gave me 2 Valium to settle my nerves and help me relax. I now know that Valium doesn't work on me. For about ten minutes it felt like a had a couple glasses of wine, but then I went right back into "what am I thinking mode". Thank goodness my husband was there to calm me down. He went through all the reasons I was doing this and why it would be ok. Around 11:00, they started the procedure, and they were done by 11:15. They gave me a teddy bear to squeeze because I was so nervous.

The LASIK room (Robby watched as they worked on my eyes - crazy)

The doctor explained everything he was doing as he was doing it. Thanks to the numbing drops they gave me, I didn't feel a thing. When they were done, I sat up and I could see.

Yeah! Right after ASA!

I felt comfortable and excited. No pain. We left there with strict instructions to go home and sleep.

Just got home from the procedure! Still SO excited and showing off my fancy goggles:)

I went to bed Friday at 1PM and woke up Saturday morning. Robby woke me up for a few drops that I needed and fed me supper. Other than that, I slept the whole day. Saturday at 9, I had my post-op appointment. My vision was clear, and the doctor said everything looked great. He also told me that as my eyes heal, the clarity would get worse before it got better. I went home and kept my eyes closed. I was a couch potato the whole day. That night, my eyes became a little more sensitive to light and remained that way until Monday afternoon. Monday, I went in for a checkup and he told me to come back on Tuesday to remove the bandage contacts. On Tuesday, I felt good enough to go back into work. I went back to the doctor on Tuesday afternoon, and they took out the contacts. He told me that everything still looked good. He also told me that my vision should get much sharper in the next two weeks. My vision blurs and sharpens right now with every blink, but I am looking forward to clear eyesight soon with no glasses or contacts.

This picture pretty much sums up last weekend. I had an awesome caretaker, thanks babe!
