Congratulations Mr. & Mrs.!!

My cousin, Ryan, and his bride to be, Rachel, tied the knot in Baton Rouge over the weekend. We made it to Death Valley's promise land late Friday evening just in time to see a few family members wrapping up a BBQ at my cousins. They had a big day to prepare for, so we headed back to the hotel to meet the rest of the family. So many of my family members either flew or drove in from out of town. It was pretty amazing.

The weekend turned out to be a beautiful one, just in time for their outdoor wedding. The forecast predicted hail, strong winds, tornadoes, heavy rain, but by noon Saturday the dark clouds had moved on.

We met the sweetest addition to our family, Emma Grace. Here is Emma at Bass Pro Shops for the first time! She is the most content baby I have ever seen. I was asking Ryan a million questions, because I need to know how he does it!!! Perfection.

It was a beautiful wedding! I'm so glad that we were there to celebrate with you. I hope everyone had a safe trip home or is in the process of it! I can't wait until June ;)

MS150

Robby rode in the MS150 again this year. It was his 5th year and his last to ride with BP. He has had several issues with his knee during this training season. He was mainly training on the weekends, so he would have a whole week to rest it up between rides. Since the MS150 is a 2 day ride he didn't have that luxury break between. Saturday, Robby gave me a call at lunch and said he was feeling pretty good. A few breakpoints later, at Fayetteville, and the news was not so upbeat. He still had about 15 miles until he reached the finish line for day 1 in La Grange. I asked if he wanted to call it a day there and let me pick him up. He insisted they would stick to the plan and meet me in La Grange. They made it!

The boys looked pretty good for finishing an 80 mile ride in 5 1/2 hours. Robby waited until that night to make a decision about finishing up day 2. He was hoping he could get home, baby his knee, and be okay for Sunday, but as soon as the knee brace came off and the Ibuprofen wore off, it was clear he would not be participating. He was pretty bummed about Sunday, but we both knew it was best to not force it. I took him to Pappasito's that night to celebrate his day 1 victory.

Ross went on to finish in Austin on Sunday. Congrats boys! Great job for a great cause!

Whoa, that would be stressful

Last night I was reading my Real Simple when I saw this picture.

This picture was taken from May 2010's Real Simple magazine.

The headline of the article that went along with this picture was, 'Can I call you back in 15 years?' It was written by a mother discussing how difficult it was to maintain friendships all while juggling children, pups, a career, etc. I could hardly get past the picture. There are 3 Vizslas in that picture, 3! I don't know how ANYONE could juggle 3 Haribos (Vizslas) at one time. I think you would have to quit work and stay home full time just for that :)

I love how two are sitting at the table, and the one that looks depressed under the table probably is. She probably can't belive the child took her spot at the table!

HOPpy Easter

Here are a few pictures from our Easter weekend! We had a great time in Louisiana visiting family and finished it off in Texas with my parents. 3 day weekends are the best:)

Friday we got to P^2 and ran around with Poppa and Granny. A frac was happening in the oilfield, so the boys were taking care of business for most of the day. The girls + Eric went into town and made a Piggly Wiggly run for Sunday fixins'. We finished the night off with a game of Scattergories that Amanda brought. So much fun!

Saturday we went to Tommy's (Diana's baby brother) for a BBQ. The food is always amazing and plentiful. I look forward to it every year!

Shadow the Beagle. This was a stray that LOVES Papa, Granny, and Crook (their dog). She is a little nervous of people, but enjoys sitting with Crook. We started calling her Shadow because she was never too far behind her friend. We were trying to convince Granny to keep her the entire weekend. Did it work Granny? :)

I left Poppa and Granny's Sunday morning, so I could spend a little time with my mom & dad. Robby stayed for the big BBQ and left stuffed :)

Fruit!

We didn't expect to have fruit produce from our trees this year. The lemon took a hit with the freeze, the satsuma didn't make it at all (Robby replaced it with a Washington orange), the plums are still TINY, and the pear is still relatively small as well. Surprise, surprise our Bartlett pear is making!

We pruned a few pears off, so the tree continued to use lots of energy on its growth, but left about 10 or so pears. I can't wait to see how they taste and how big they get - hopefully bigger than they are now:)
